Definition

Snoring is the hoarse sound that is created when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is physically obstructed. Sometimes snoring may be associated with a serious underlying health condition. Occasional snoring is not unusual and is mostly a nuisance to your partner.1

Snoring is more common in men because of the physiology of the Adam’s apple and presence of a more oval vocal cord. Snoring is also common in obese people and those with upper respiratory congestion. Snoring is not only a stressful thing for the partner to endure every night, but also the loss of sleep can become serious problem in many aspects including their health.2
