Definition

Hydrocele is a condition in males where they have a swelling in their scrotum (sac below the penis that contains the testes) due to accumulation of fluid.. This fluid accumulation is generally due inflammation or injury in the scrotum.1

In Ayurveda, hydrocele is called as Andavruddhi (Swelling in sac). The cause of andavruddhi is accumulation of fluid in the sac due to vitiation of vata dosha and rakta dhatu, which in turn can be due to internal derangement or external aghata (injury/trauma).2,3
