Definition

Hearing loss is the partial or complete inability to hear sound in one or both the ears.1

An aspect of vata known as prana vata governs the aspect of hearing. The prana vata tends to get weakened in older people leading to what is known as conductive or nerve deafness. Weakening of the nerves leads to hearing loss in these people.2
